Sunset Press reading invites poetry prose and community
“Cracking open their notebooks and turning on their phones, some of Kenyon’s finest writers stood in front of a rapt audience at the Horn and shared their writing at the Sunset Press Open mic on Wednesday. Featuring prose, poems and even one journal entry, topics ranged from familial relationships to isolation.
Sunset Press executives greeted students with a table containing many of the books Sunset Press has published, such as Babyface by Nicole Wang ’26 and Burner Boys by Will Madden ’26, along with a sign-up sheet for anyone who wanted to share at the last minute. “The reason that we invite as many authors to read as we do is twofold: We hope that by showcasing so many authors, the audience is able to experience the wide range of writing that exists on this campus, and secondly we aim to give space for as many people to have the opportunity to read as possible,” the Sunset Press executive board said in a statement to the Collegian.“
